TAMPA BAY PILOT STUDY WORKPLAN

Task 4: Information System Management

Task Participants:
Jimmy Johnston (BRD), Renee Koenig (GD), Amanda Frick (GD), Dave McCulloch (WRD), Chris Friel (FRMI), Holly Greening (TBEP), Kim Haag (WRD), Dean Gesch (NMD), JoAnne Stapleton (NMD).
  1. Develop clearinghouse of relevant Tampa Bay data. Compilation of data already acquired within the local and scientific community. The USGS will partner with the Tampa Bay Estuary Program and FMRI who have already developed the framework for this effort. FMRI, TBEP, BRD, NMD, WRD, and GD will coordinate efforts in database integration and web delivery.

  2. Development of Prototype Tampa Bay Decision Support and Query System. The USGS National Wetlands Research Center and its partners (NMD, GD, FMRI, TBEP, etc.) will develop a prototype Tampa Bay Decision Support and Query System (DSQS). The DSQS will consist of a GIS component to manage and manipulate spatial data; a database component to manage, manipulate, and catalog non-spatial information; and a web-based distribution mechanism to provide simplified data access to Tampa Bay decision-makers. NMD will specifically advise the NWRC on data transfer standards, meta data development, spatial analysis, map visualization, map production and data delivery. JoAnne Stapleton (NMD) and others will work on this task (Jan- Aug ‘01).

  3. Provide an outreach component to this study in which fact sheets and CDs are developed for use by partners and citizens.
