Gulf of Mexico Estuaries - Tampa Bay Pilot Study
Demonstration Projects

Planned Deliverables:

We have planned, as our primary product, a series of GIS map layers from each study site, displaying critical measured parameters from each of the system components addressed (i.e. resistivity, high-resolution bathymetry, shallow seismic groundwater, surface water flow rates, water quality parameters, productivity measurements, benthic habitat distribution, ecological indicators, etc.). These map layers will be constructed in an overlaying, 3-D manner, indicating correlation or the degree of correlation between data layers.

This method of presenting results will aid in establishing the linkage and degree of interdependency between system components and the necessity for addressing estuarine investigations using an integrated science approach.

Broadscale maps of urban land use, land cover, and elevation will be used to establish the context of each study location. Comparison between system component maps, from each study location will aid in identifying correlations between urbanization, land-use, land cover, and ecosystem health.

All GIS products will be available on the web site. Fact sheets highlighting project tasks and the linkages between project tasks will be produced in paper format and on the web. Other products will include development of a web site, data management, and application tools.
