Five Year Science Plan for the Tampa Bay Study
Project Leader: Kimberly Yates - April 15, 2003

Task 3: History and Prehistory - Distinguish Natural Versus Anthropogenic Change
3a. Determine rates of sediment accumulation and temporal changes in contaminant levels and environmental parameters through dating of cores at coarse sampling resolution for the pre-historical record and fine sampling resolution for the historical record to establish natural versus anthropogenic change. Critical Science Gaps IA, IB and IC.

3b. Characterize historical and pre-historical evolution of vegetation through analysis of pollen and organic biomarkers collected from cores to facilitate establishment of restoration goals for seagrass, wetland, and upland habitats, and to characterize climate and salinity change in the Bay.
