Benthic Habitats, Model Urban and Environmental Impacts to Seagrass Distribution and Health, Quantify Urban and Environmental Impacts to Benthic Habitats

Five Year Science Plan for the Tampa Bay Study
Project Leader: Kimberly Yates - April 15, 2003

Task 5: Benthic Habitats - Model Urban and Environmental Impacts to Seagrass Distribution and Health

5a. Model the impacts of urbanization on seagrass distribution and health by coupling urbanization and seagrass distribution models to develop predictive modeling capabilities for assessing future impacts. Critical Science Gaps IVA and IVB.

5b. Assess the impact of groundwater seepage, surface water and sediment quality (including organic and inorganic contaminants) on benthic habitats through correlation modeling (e.g., coupled urban impact, sediment quality, seagrass distribution models, etc.). Critical Science Gaps IVA, IVB and IVD.
