Guidelines for Preparation of Abstracts:

Abstracts of presentations will be published in the workshop proceedings. For the sake of consistency, please follow these guidelines:

Abstracts should be prepared using Microsoft Word, and should be titled in bold (11-point Times-Roman font) and include all contributing authors’ names and affiliations. All margins should be 1-inch, text single spaced (11-point Times-Roman font). Any references should be in 8-point in the following general format (separated by commas): author(s), year, title, publisher, volume, issue, and page(s). A short biographical sketch (approx. 50 words or less) of the presenting author should also be included.

Guidelines for short summaries of research needs/information gaps:

The proceedings of the workshop also will include a compendium of research needs and action plans for future coordinated research studies. We are soliciting a short summary from water managers and scientists that briefly describe information gaps, research priorities, or proposal concepts.

Scientists actively conducting research in the basin and estuary are encouraged to submit a one-page summary of scientific research needs by addressing the following topics:

  1. key questions or hypotheses,
  2. potential research activities and priority levels,
  3. basin-wide integration concepts,
  4. and recommendations for cooperative efforts and key players.

Please consider scientific relevance, topics consistent with an integrated watershed, missing data, cooperative constraints and leverage, or budgetary estimates.

A strawman proposal for coordinated multi-disciplinary research will be prepared from these summaries and distributed prior to the meeting for discussion at the workshop.

This workshop is co-sponsored by: U.S. Geological Survey, Suwannee River Water Management District and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission - Florida Marine Research Institute.
