Tips for using the Suwannee Interactive Mapping System (IMS)
|
|
- Open each folder to select layers to view. Display only a few layers at a time. Selecting too many layers may clutter the screen and may take a long time to load.
- To display a different layer or to add a new layer to the view, click “Update Map.”
- Select “Legend” to view a legend for the visible layer.
- A check mark in the box next to a layer indicates that the layer is turned on.
- A marked circle next to a layer indicates that the layer is active. Identify, Classify, Select, Query, and Find Tools can only be used on the active layer. Only one layer can be active at a time.
- To print a map or use “Print Preview,” disable your pop-up blocker.
- Find a feature based on a keyword search. First, make the layer active. Enter a keyword in the Find box and click “Find String.” Select from the list of available features by clicking the number in the “Rec” field. It will automatically highlight and zoom to that feature.
- You can change the color and size of the symbols for each feature in the active layer by using the "Classify" tool.
- The only layers available for download are vector layers (point, line and polygon). Raster images (land cover, topographic charts, Landsat) are not available for download.
- Suwannee Watershed sub-basin (such as Alapaha, Santa Fe, or Waccasassa) data may be downloaded individually. Select the basin name from the pull-down menu to download data for a single sub-basin.
- You can perform your own impact analysis using the simplified version of the 2001 Land Cover dataset, called Land Use. For examples visit the Visualization Tool Map Layers to view a basin-by-basin analysis. Visit the Map Gallery to see a quantitative analysis of the Land Use categories in the whole basin.
- You can display multiple data layers over each other, perform your own evaluation, and print a customized map of your new analysis.
