Wetlands Lost to Development in Circum-Galveston Bay - USGS Quadrangles
Evaluating Loss of Wetlands in the Galveston Bay Area
Introduction

The Texas A&M University Spatial Sciences Laboratory was contracted by Texas Cooperative Extension (TCE) to assist in the examination of wetland loss in the Galveston Bay area. This study evaluated the loss of wetlands due to development over a 7 year period—1992-1999 for the western part of the bay, and from 1992 to 1995 for Chambers County.

Section I. The Study Area

The study area encompasses Galveston Bay. It was defined by the rectangle formed from the US Geological Survey 7.5 minute quads—Stowell on the Northeast and Christmas Point on the SW excluding the bay.
